Stunning example from the well-regarded Orivit workshop of Cologne, Germany circa 1904. The pewter framework with its fluid, undulating form, has swirling foliate and berry patterns in relief. The large tray is flanked by curving, open Art Nouveau handles with firm's marks stamped beneath. Supported by eight feet, one replaced as seen in photo. Orivit, founded by Wilhelm Ferdinand Hubert Schnitz in 1894, commissioned well-known designers such as Hermann Gradl and Walter Scherf. In 1904 the firm was acquired by WMF {Wurttembergische Metalwaren Fabrik). Pictured in the book title, "ORIVIT: Zinn des Jugendstils aux Koln." The Brohan Museum in Berlin has a prominent collection of Orivit inclusive of several trays. Dimensions: 13 1/2" W., 22 1/2" L.

Three detailed, cast irises climb the sides of the Loetz lilac glass vase decorated with undulating waves in aubergine. Fine WMF centerpiece depicting a central maiden with outstretched arms. Whiplash handles flank the high Art Nouveau reticulated form. Relief patterns of flowers and vines sweep about the surface. The crystal liner is cut with complimenting florals. Stabilized crack upon left of liner. Designed by Albert Mayer circa 1900 in Germany in the workshop's 1906 Catalogue page 364. Superb quality Art Nouveau 800 Fine Silver tray by the Wilhelm Binder workshop in Schwabisch Gmund, Germany circa 1905. The oval dual handle form has cut out interlacing Jugendstil elements. Hand chased contoured accents enhance the design. Further handwork is seen in rolled edging around the entire tray. Firm's marks beneath. An Austro-Hungarian import mark for Budapest is stamped upon one handle. An identical example in the collection of the Brohan Museum in Berlin is pictured page 101, 'Modern Art of Metalwork', published by the museum. Dimensions: 6 5/8" W, 13 1/4" L.
