Beautifully detailed, patinated metal figure of a hurdler by the famous Art- Deco-era sculptor, Demetre Chiparus (born 1886 in Romania, died 1947 in France). The figure, with outstretched arms, jumps above as he clears the hurdle beneath. Signed D.H. Chiparus upon the naturalistic ground, with foundry seal upon back edge. A rare set, both in color as well as motif. Cut, etched and enameled in blue. These enamel Art Deco decanter sets are usually in black or red enamel--blue examples are most unusual to find. The decanter is cut with seven alternating panels with the design of a heart, four-leaf clover, bird, anchor and horseshoe. Stopper cut with a heart and each of six glasses cut with wave and circle design. Beautiful, unique and in good condition. Czechoslovakia, circa 1925. Decanter 7 3/4" H., glasses 2 1/4" H.

A stunning art deco design vase modeled after Charles Catteau's highly collected squirrels pattern originally created for Boch Freres, La Louviere, Belgium in 1929. The matte enamel, bulbous-form pottery vase depicts a frieze of animated squirrels in various poses.
