Fine antique crystal box with a minutely detailed, cast bronze eagle upon its hinged cover. The eagle is complemented by bronze Art Nouveau floral elements along with foliate-trim mountings. Detailed hand chased foliates surround the naturalistic design. Green agate is inset in the form of top and side fronds of the thistle. A bottom striker and chatelaine ring upon the vesta top complete the unusual example. Hallmarks: Joseph Cook & Sons, Birmingham, 1919. 1 1/4" W., 1 7/8" H.
Lovely Art Nouveau letters or stationery box has its original fitted wooden interior. Extensive Art Nouveau whiplash, foliates and scenic designs are in relief on the silvered, hinged-top form. Made in England circa 1900. 3 1/2" D., 9" L. 5 3/4" H.
Stunning French Art Deco silver snuff box mounted with a large, rectangular carnelian-colored glass top.
Silver-and-marcasite appliques adorn the corners in a fan shape and at center in a diamond shape. Sides have a ribbon-and-garland pattern. The heavy box has hallmarks for London 1923 along with importer mark of Gourdel Vales & Co. The firm, established in Paris in 1820 by Constant Vales, continued as Gourdel Vales in London until 1939. 1 1/2" W., 2 3/8" L.
Stunning high Art Nouveau design! A reticulated whiplash form support in each corner upholds the jewel box. Interlacing, sweeping vines and Art Nouveau florals are in relief upon the top and all sides. Made by the famous WMF (Wurttembergische Metallwarenfabrik) workshop in Germany, circa 1900. Most unusual example of a fine Art Nouveau silver card case. Rambling vines along with daffodils in high relief are upon the cover of the case. The case, with its spring mechanism, opens to reveal a beautifully fitted interior of moire silk. Each side has a gusset pocket to hold a card. The form accommodates modern- day-size business cards.
