Bronze boy grasping an apple. Sweetly sculpted with a scarf about his neck and wearing a knit cap. Olive-brown patina with a contrasting gold patina upon the face and hand. Signed A. Titze upon the reverse. The artist was active in Vienna from 1900-1920 creating detailed figures of harlequins, animals and children. Bronze bottle opener mounted with a cast figural swan. The form is a fine example made by Richard Rohac (1906-1956) in Austria circa 1950. Rohac trained with Hagenauer prior to establishing his own metal workshop in 1932. He was well-known for creating stylized, Modernist figures of animals as well as other decorative sculpture. Secession gilded brass box made by the Erhard & Sohne workshop in Germany circa 1915-25. Six panels upon the hinged top depict leopards, horse and rider, sailing ship and bird. Side panels include an elephant and a lion. Four feet support the stunning box designed by Eugen Schwemmle.
