Combination one- and two-ounce Modernist sterling silver cocktail jigger designed by Alphonse La Paglia. A native of Italy, La Paglia was commissioned to execute designs to be retailed by Georg Jensen, USA in the 1940's. These were retailed for only a few years when designs were briefly continued by International Silver Co. His creations abruptly halted in 1953 due to his untimely passing. Whimsical Art Deco cocktail picks stand in the form of a bar. A pin-up-style figure of a woman perched upon a bar stool stands in front of a curving macassar ebony wood bar with its metal railing. Six amber-color goblet-form picks (one with loss to top edge) rest within. A stand alongside the bar holds four star-form muddler stirrers. Stamped Made in France, likely designed by Sudre, the workshop known for unusual figural cocktail accoutrements, circa 1940's. 5 1/2" W. stand, 5" H. with muddlers.

A rare find. Set-of-six sword cocktail picks are each silver gilt and created to commemorate the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II. This is the Sword of Mercy design which was one of the three ceremonial swords used in the coronation ceremony, the other two being the Sword of Spiritual Justice and the Sword of Temporal Justice.
