Fine WMF (Wurttembergische Metallwarenfabrik) silvered pewter figural, monumental Art Nouveau vases in the manner of Alphonse Mucha. One has front relief of a barefoot maiden with flowing, tousled hair among florals and vines. The facing vase has a fluid-haired maiden sniffing a bouquet of undulating florals. Reverse of each has further interlacing foliates and vines. The neck and naturalistic waving tops are flanked by reticulated Art Nouveau whiplash handles. Stunning examples of Art Nouveau at its best. Firm's marks beneath. Germany circa 1907. 19 1/2" H., 10 1/2" w.

Art Nouveau design at its finest. A romanticized reclining maiden in the manner of Alphonse Mucha is depicted in silhouette upon the large bevel mirror as she gazes forward. Elaborately reticulated, interlacing whiplash vines and leaves form the mirror's top, with additional curving elements in relief. A drawing of the design is illustrated in the Antique Collectors Club reprint of the firm's well-known 1906 catalog, page 295. Fine cast bronze of a boy holding an early carved flute-like instrument known as a chalumeau. The figure with wavy hair wears a jacket, hat and fur-lined shoes. A basket of fruits rests behind. Signed upon the squared base, Duchoiselle. The sculptor, active in France in the nineteenth century, created a highly regarded pair of bronzes depicting Native American Indians in canoes. A stunning example of fine Art Nouveau. The pewter-mounted glass vase is from the Moritz Hacker (Budapest 1849-1932) workshop founded in Vienna, Austria in 1882. Three detailed, cast irises climb the sides of the Loetz lilac glass vase decorated with undulating waves in aubergine. The well-regarded Hacker, a jeweler to the royal court, often collaborated with Loetz. Signed with Hacker workshop marks upon mount; Vienna circa 1900-05. 8 1/4" H.

Stunning pair of Jungendstil bowls. The footed silver forms have sweeping Art Nouveau elements among shield friezes. Secession influence geometric designs complete the 800 fine silver framework. Undulating hand-cut crystal liners rest within. Two inner-rim flakes on one liner. Each signed beneath with workshop marks for the well-known Koch & Bergfeld, circa 1902. Retailer marks for Vollgold & Sohn are found on the silver as well. The Koch & Bergfeld silversmiths were founded in Bremen in 1829. Examples of their works are represented in the Brohan Museum collection in Berlin. 5 1/2" H., 7 1/4" W. each.

Figural wine bottle holder from Brienz, Switzerland circa mid-nineteenth century. The magnificent carved, bearded gentleman lays upon a cart and is contoured to allow a bottle to rest as he holds a twig-form collar and twig-saw to nestle the bottle. The rare holder is assembled with pegs and has working wooden wheels. Early Black Forest carvings of walnut and linden trunks, symbols of luxury and wealth, were featured in international exhibitions in London, Paris and the United States. Carving of a human figure, as well as it unusual form, make the holder an extraordinary example for the collector of wine-related antiques.
