WMF (Wurttembergische Metallwarenfabrik) Art Nouveau chamberstick with a stylized, sweeping, open handle. The unusual example has a hinged top storage compartment to hold matches. A striker is built into the top. The lovely Jugendstil design has foliates in relief to complete the design. Illustrated in the well-known WMF 1906 catalogue, page 117. Firm's marks upon the handle. Lustrously enameled sterling silver in vibrant blues, an oval medallion is surrounded by a curving reticulated Art Nouveau design. A pendant drop further enhances the lovely design. Secession pottery covered bowl by Dagobert Peche (Austria 1877-1923). Impressed marks for Gmunder Keramik Austria 1915-20. The firm executed pottery for the Wiener Werkstatte. Stylized Vienna Secession design of a figural, reclining woman holding a flower amidst a naturalistic gardenscape glazed in black and white. A tree is upon the reverse. The cover is crowned by a finial along with a geometric Secession pattern. Lovely Art Nouveau Doulton Lambeth stoneware vase. The bold, bulbous, baluster form with its upward-turned opening, is glazed in cobalt blue. Five large heart-form leaves with detailed relief beading are glazed in celadon. Additional leaves as well as pendant Art Nouveau foliates are glazed in light blue, gold and dark green. Impressed marks as well as workshop marks for Miss B. Harman, circa 1904. 11 1/8" H.

Engraved with the McCarthy family coat of arms from the Regal House of Cork: A Dexter arm with hand holding a lizard.
