Pillar form is a distinct Josef Hoffmann influence, as seen in examples executed by Wiener Werkstatte. Handsome antique cut-crystal Scotch whisky decanter fitted with a Betjemann's patented lock. A silvered collar about the neck of the decanter holds a locking mechanism. An arm slides forward to grasp and hold a heavy multi- facet-cut stopper in place. The stopper rests within a widely flaring pouring lip. The Victorian decanter is extensively and deeply cut on all sides along with a star-cut pattern upon its base. Retains original key. A fine example from this workshop, who commissioned prominent designers including Friedrich Adler, Peter Behrens and Joseph Maria Olbrich. The range was signed Isis or Osiris as is this beneath.
