Charming Art Nouveau aide de memoire carnet, or notebook. The silvered covering depicts a beautifully detailed figure of Cigale holding a lute amidst Art Nouveau foliates. Signed Dropsy (Jean-Baptistse-Emile Dropsy, 1843-1923). Reverse is further embellished with rambling foliates. A mechanical pencil is fitted into a side closure to lock the hinged cover of the pad. Retains original, only partially used, gilt-edge note pad. France circa 1900. 2 1/2" W., 4" H.
