Beautifully stylized Doulton Lambeth stoneware jardiniere. Interlacing robust foliates as well as whiplash vines are tube lined. Glazed in royal and light blues along with celadon and sepia brown. Unusual mottled, sponged effect upon surface. Impressed Doulton Lambeth marks for period circa 1902 along with decorator marks for Jane Rumbol. 7 3/4" H., 8 1/2" W.

A spirited Art Deco cocktail picks set with a painted metal saxophone player. The figure, with his red hat and bow tie, holds a brass painted sax as he faces a holder with six red-top-mounted cocktail picks. All are mounted on a macassar wood base. In the 1890's streets in major cities were enriched with large and colorful advertising posters created by leading artists of the era. The prominent artist, Jules Cheret had his own print workshop in Paris which offered works from the Imprimierie Chaix print workshop. As artistic director of Chaix, Cheret had the vision to create Les Maitres de l'Affiche (Masters of the Poster). The series of 11 3/8" x 15 5/8" posters designed by the most prestigious poster artists of the day were chromolithographic reductions of the same large format examples be these artists. Prints were sold in packages of four and offered from December 1895 to 1900. Ninety seven artists were represented in the series which on occasion included a bonus plate. 256 total plates or images were produced in the five years Les Maitres de l'Affiche was offered. Each print has an embossed seal confirming it's authenticity.

The beautifully crafted example has hand-chased details. A charming fluttering butterfly in relief hovers above and completes the elegant design.
