Unusual French silver tastevin, or wine taster, fashioned by a skilled silversmith from a 5-franc coin. The rim of the hand-hammered bowl, made from the actual edge of the coin, reads, "Dieu Protege La France" (God Protect France). The base of the tastevin is set with a 1919 1-franc coin and the handle is fashioned from a 1916 50-centimes coin. Nice example for the collector, circa 1920. 2" W., 2 3/4" L.

Bronze bottle opener mounted with a cast figural swan. The form is a fine example made by Richard Rohac (1906-1956) in Austria circa 1950. Rohac trained with Hagenauer prior to establishing his own metal workshop in 1932. He was well-known for creating stylized, Modernist figures of animals as well as other decorative sculpture. Signed beneath with the artist's backward/forward double "R" mark. 1 3/4" H., 3" L.
