Simply beautiful American Arts & Crafts sterling silver tea strainer. The bold design with its hammered handle has rivet-and-strapwork in relief upon the top. The strainer, with workshop marks for the Frank Whiting Co., is influenced by the Shreve & Co. silver 14th Century Crusader pattern. Massachusetts circa 1910. 2 7/8" W., 5 7/8" L.

An iconic piece of American cocktail culture! The carved wooden stork, with its glass bud vase, was part of the famous New York City, Stork Club's, table setting and held a single rose stem. The club was opened by Sherman Billingsley, a former bootlegger, in 1929 at 132 West 58th Street. The famous nightclub, ultimately moving to 3 East 63rd Street, closed in 1965 and was the place to see and be seen. It was frequented by Frank Sinatra, Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz, Bing Crosby, Joe Dimaggio and Marilyn Monroe, and the list goes on. The prior collector placed a label beneath, noting that it was acquired from the Stork Club in 1948. 4"W, 7 3/4"H.
