Fine Art Nouveau wine, or claret, jug made by the WMF (Wurttembergische Metallwarenfabrik) workshop in Germany circa 1900. A fully cast, detailed figure of a mermaid forms the handle. The mount, with its hinged cover and tall pouring lip, has rambling florals in relief. The large crystal carafe is hand-cut, as well as etched, with complementing high Art Nouveau florals. Signed with WMF marks upon the mount. An extraordinary example of romanticized Art Nouveau by this highly regarded workshop. Illustrated in the firm's well-known 1906 catalogue, page 135. 12" H.
