Secession gilded brass box made by the Erhard & Sohne workshop in Germany circa 1915-25. Six panels upon the hinged top depict leopards, horse and rider, sailing ship and bird. Side panels include an elephant and a lion. Four feet support the stunning box designed by Eugen Schwemmle. A similar example in the collection of the Brohan Museum in Berlin is pictured in the museum publication, "Metallkunst," page 158. Impressed workshop mark beneath. 2 1/2" H., 3 1/2" W., 5 1/4" L.
Pure Art Deco design. Top of the silvered box is engine-turned with alternating incised panels. The rounded, stained wood forms that flank the sides are also supports that uphold the box. Wooden lined. Made in England circa 1925. 3 1/4" W., 6 1/8" L., 1 5/8" H.
Handsome English Victorian oak- and- brass-mounted smokers' box. The design has separate hinged compartments for cigars as well as cigarettes. Each is clearly labelled with a brass plaque. This unusual example is also fitted with a cigar cutter upon the top along with a match-striker plate and a removable ashtray. Within the cigarette section is an additional holder for matches or a roller. A twist-form brass carrying handle completes the design. England circa 1890. 6" W., 12" L., 5" H.

Unusual example of a high Art Deco biscuit box or covered ice cooler. The crystal box is cut with geometric triangular patterns and fits upon its own tray.
