Stunning French Art Deco silver box mounted with a large, rectangular carnelian-colored glass top. Silver-and-marcasite appliques adorn the corners in a fan shape and at center in a diamond shape. Sides have a ribbon-and-garland pattern. The heavy box has hallmarks for London 1923 along with importer mark of Gourdel Vales & Co. The firm, established in Paris in 1820 by Constant Vales, continued as Gourdel Vales in London until 1939. 1 1/2" W., 2 3/8" L.

Impeccable design. Made by the famous Delheid Freres silver workshop in Brussels, Belgium, which was founded by Michel Delheid in 1828. The tray, with its stepped, geometric silver sides, is further enhanced by rounded, open handles with complementing Art Deco elements. The wooden tray's marquetry inlay displays robust Modernist design of contrasting macassar ebony and amboina mahogany as well as fruitwood. The Delheid workshop was the subject of an exhibit in 2010 at the Sterckshof Silver Museum in Antwerp. Delheid stamp, along with 800 Fine Silver mark upon the silver; circa 1930. 15 1/2" W., 24 1/4" L.

A stunning art deco design vase modeled after Charles Catteau's highly collected squirrels pattern originally created for Boch Freres, La Louviere, Belgium in 1929. The matte enamel, bulbous-form pottery vase depicts a frieze of animated squirrels in various poses.
