Widely flaring trumpet form internally decorated in brilliant red at the rim. Bulbous bottom in deep teal green with radiating bubbles against a red background. An unusual example of WMF (Wurttembergisch Metalwaren Fabrik) Secession design. The superbly executed form consists of a sauciere fashioned as one unit with its attached oval tray beneath. Raised Secession elements reminiscent of Josef Hoffmann Gitterwerk embellish the form. Gilded within. The well known Germany workshop's oxidation marks upon the handle. Made circa 1910. Beautifully interpreted Art Nouveau design. A Mucha-inspired figural maiden with flowing hair upholds a corner of her gown as it undulates about the perimeter of the tray.
