This British Art Deco cocktail shaker has an unusual acorn-form top finial, or cap, which removes to reveal the internal strainer. Incised horizontal bandings are around its circumference. Repousse copper covered oval wooden center bowl. Scrolling Art Nouveau and beaded elements cover the surface. Multi-colored jewelled cabochons are mounted within each of six panels. Very fine and minute attention to detail with rolled copper top edge fastened to wooden bowl with tiny nail rivets. France circa 1905. Dimensions: 2 3/4" H, 7 3/8" W, 10 1/2" L.

Lovely sterling silver bowl with a distinct Alphonse La Paglia influence. The Modernist form is virtually identical to designs commissioned by Georg Jensen to be created by La Paglia to retail in the Jensen store in New York from 1948-'51. Upon the designer's abrupt passing, silver workshops created examples closely based upon those of La Paglia. American circa 1950's. 3 1/8" H., 5 1/4" W.
Lovely Modernist sterling silver bowl. The reticulated blossom design was originally created for Georg Jensen USA by Alphonse La Paglia in the 1940's when they commissioned America designers for silver offered in the Jensen New York shop. This stunning bowl was made by the Durham Silver Co. of New York circa 1950 when Jensen ceased offering the designs. Blossom design is pictured in "Jensen Silver, the American Designs," page 111. 3 3/4" H., 8 3/8" W.
Fine Modernist silver cocktail condiment bowl. Ideal cocktail bar size for olives or cherries. Reticulated floral, ball-and-loop form designed by Alphonse La Paglia, who created designs for Georg Jensen USA to retail in their New York store in the late 1940's. Marks include Georg Jensen Inc. and L.P. for La Paglia, along with an uncommon mark, GJ within a beaded circle. This mark is rarely seen on La Paglia design examples as it is a mark used on Jensen silver crafted in Denmark. Bowl design pictured on page 110 in "Jensen Silver, the American Designs." 3 1/8" H., 5 1/8" W.

A fine example for the collector of rare bottle openers. The nickel-plated bronze Cubist cockatiel is signed Bizette. The stylized bird is fashioned with a curving neck and beak that form the opener. The noted sculptor Andre Bizzet-Lindet, France 1906-1988, studied under Bouchard at the Ecole Nationale de Beaux Arts in Paris, winning numerous awards. He is known among Art Deco enthusiasts for his stylized, Cubist animal sculptures. Stamped Made in France; circa 1930. 4 1/4" L.
British banded agate wax seal is cut into an octagonal with a rounded top. The polished stone is mounted with chased silver that holds its beveled agate seal with intaglio crest. England circa 1890. 2" L.
Figural wine bottle holder from Brienz, Switzerland circa mid-nineteenth century. The magnificent carved, bearded gentleman lays upon a cart and is contoured to allow a bottle to rest as he holds a twig-form collar and twig-saw to nestle the bottle. The rare holder is assembled with pegs and has working wooden wheels. Early Black Forest carvings of walnut and linden trunks, symbols of luxury and wealth, were featured in international exhibitions in London, Paris and the United States. Carving of a human figure, as well as it unusual form, make the holder an extraordinary example for the collector of wine-related antiques. 11" H., 5 3/4" W., 18 1/2" L.

Bronze of a 16th-century gentleman holding two geese. Charming depiction of the well-known bronze sculpture by Hans Peisser, titled "Gaensemaennchenbrunnen" ("The Goose Man's Fountain"). The original sculpture, cast in 1550, is located in the Nuremberg Town Hall square in the old town. The depiction portrays the tale of the geese being carried to market, and as they loudly protested, the gentleman took pity upon them and swiftly returned them to their home. This detailed casting rests upon a variegated green marble base and bears the original retailer's label beneath, G.G. Leykauf. Nuremberg circa 1910. 6 1/4" H.
