Secession pottery covered bowl or jar by Dagobert Peche (Austria 1877-1923). Impressed marks for Gmunder Keramik Austria 1915-20. The firm executed ceramics for the Wiener Werkstatte. Stylized Vienna Secession design of a figural, reclining woman holding a flower amidst a naturalistic gardenscape glazed in black and white. A tree is upon the reverse. The cover is crowned by a finial along with a geometric Secession pattern. Similar work seen in "Dagobert Peche and the Weiner Werkstatte," Yale University Press in association with the Neue Galerie in New York, copyright 2002. 3 1/4" H., 4" W.

Secession gilded brass box made by the Erhard & Sohne workshop in Germany circa 1915-25. Six panels upon the hinged top depict leopards, horse and rider, sailing ship and bird. Side panels include an elephant and a lion. Four feet support the stunning box designed by Eugen Schwemmle. Fine Bruckmann silver four piece coffee and tea service designed by Josef M. Lock. Each vertically lobed piece with tiered dome top mounted with ebonized wooden handles is hand-hammered; cream & sugar with gilded interiors. Made in 1919 in the renowned Bruckmann & Sohne workshop in Heilbronn, Germany. 800 Fine Silver as well as firm's marks and retailer beneath. Another example of this service is in the permanent collection of the Brohan Museum in Berlin. Pictured page 77 in the museum's book "Metallkunst." They have hand-hammered detail and rest upon their original oval tray with its complementing, hammered, rising border. All pieces have rolled rims, a sign of quality. Vienna Secession basket designed by architect Hans Ofner (1880-1939) and made in the Argentor workshop in Austria circa 1905. Crystal liner rests within rounded frame displaying gitterwerk elements upon its circumference as well as its open handle. Ofner studied with Josef Hoffmann at the Kunstgewerbescule. He went on to create Vienna Secession interiors along with fine metalwork, furniture and jewelry. An Ofner gitterwerk vase by Argentor is in the collection of the Museum of Modern Art, New York. 7 1/2" H., 5 1/2" W.
